Nandi Governor Stephen Sang and Uasin Gishu Women Representative Gladys Shollei have vowed to rally behind the resolutions made during a retreat by Rift Valley leaders on Friday.
More than 90 elected leaders from the 14 counties in the region met at Lake Naivasha Resort to review and discuss the implementation of the Building Bridges Initiative (BBI) report.
The politicians threw their weight behind the report and pledged to follow the route which President Uhuru Kenyatta will choose to implement.
"We resolved unreservedly to support the implementation of the BBI Report in the way the President will order, i.e, through a referendum or Constitutional amendments through Parliament," said Shollei in a tweet.
While noting the rural agricultural communities are experiencing hard times, Shollei said the leaders resolved to consider the BBI report from the economic perspective, by supporting its recommendations on food and nutrition security, as well as youth employment.
"We also engaged on critical issues affecting our region in the agricultural sector and youth unemployment, and the immediate political and economic inference of the BBI to our region in terms of coffee, tea, maize, milk, and livestock farming among others," the Women Rep added.
On his part, Sang endorsed the resolutions of the meeting and urged his colleagues to remain focused and united as they discharge their mandate.
"As Rift Valley leaders, we should have a common stand on diverse issues focused on economically empowering our people as well as 2022 political journey," the Governor said.
