Kalonzo deputized Raila in his 2013 and 2017 presidential bids, both of which they lost, but now says that they will now concentrate on a joint effort to serve the nation going forward.

Speaking to the Saturday Standard, Kalonzo said that they have also agreed to revive the opposition's National Super Alliance (NASA) agenda.

He added that they have struck a deal to meet and chat the way forward beginning early next year.

This comes 17 months after losing to President Uhuru Kenyatta and his deputy William Ruto in the August 8 race.

“We conversed last night and we agreed that we will meet in the New Year and work together within the NASA arrangement to actualise our vision for the country," said the former Vice President.

Kalonzo added that the two of them could also once again face the 2022 general polls as a team.

The Ukambani political kingpin has since expressed his interest in the top seat in the race.

This, he said, is despite their initial disagreements in the past, saying that the hurdles were mostly created by their allies and not themselves personally.

Raila who has taken 4 futile hots at the presidency has on the other hand remained silent on his plans, calling upon politicians to quit politicking and concentrate on service delivery.

The relationship between the two leaders was put to test when Kalonzo and the remaining NASA co-pricipals snubbed Raila's mock presidential coronation in Uhuru Park on January 30.

Consequently, they were branded cowards and traitors by Raila's forces after having assured their supporters that they would take the oath.
