Elgeyo Marakwet Senator Kipchumba Murkomen has said that the appointment of National Assembly Majority Leader Aden Duale to assume the position of Prime Minister (PM) is the best thing that can happen to this nation.
Recently unveiled Building Bridges Initiative (BBI) report recommends the creation of a PM's post, with the holder being appointed by the president.
In a tweet on Saturday, Murkomen, who changed his stand on BBI after its contents were made public, said that if Duale is appointed Prime Minister, "then we shall have healed our divisions and Kenya will be more united."
“BBI report says that if @HonAdenDualeis appointed as a Prime Minister chairing cabinet sub-committees then we shall have healed our divisions&Kenya will be more united unless of course u don’t believe a PM can come from the North. NB/ I support BBI @ahmednasirlaw,” he tweeted.
Lawyer Ahmednassir Abdullahi said tweeted that Duale would automatically assume the position of Prime Minister if the BBI report was to be implemented before 2022.
According to the lawyer, the BBI report stipulates that the leader of the majority is the ideal candidate for the position.
"If the BBI proposals are implemented before 2022, Hon Aden Duale will automatically become Prime Minister of Kenya," he tweeted.
