Two men died on Monday evening after being electrocuted while installing a billboard at Jatomy Supermarket in Embu town.
Reports indicate that the billboard fell on electricity cables resulting in the unfortunate incident.
Embu County Police Commander Daniel Rukunga confirmed the incident, adding that the two victims were rushed to Embu Level Five Hospital, but succumbed to their injuries.
Two other workers who were at the scene narrowly survived, with one sustaining serious injuries.
“The victim sustained fractures and is undergoing treatment. The fourth worker was treated at the same hospital and discharged. Police are investigating how it happened and who was culpable. We condole with the families of the men who lost their lives and wish the injured worker quick recovery,” Rukunga said.
Police have launched an investigation to establish what exactly led to the tragic accident.
Preliminary investigation indicates that a contractor had been tasked to install the billboard, and in turn, employed four workers to do the job.
