Interior and Coordination of National Government Principal Secretary Karanja Kibicho has issued a stern warning to police officers found sleeping during the national examinations to kick off in a few weeks time.

Speaking at the Kenya School of Government on Monday, the PS said that officers contracted to provide security during the national examinations exercise found sleeping on their job risked sacking as disciplinary action.

He called on those at the top to ensure that officers acting outside the rules of engagement are dealt with accordingly, failure to which action will also be taken against them also.

"A police officer who is found to be asleep when the exams are going on and he is not sacked, we go to the very last commitment," the PS said in a video shared on YouTube. (10;43-10:55)

Kibicho's strong words come in the wake of a warning from the ministries of Interior and Coordination of National Government, and Education to those keen on compromising the national examinations that stern action will be taken against them.

Both ministries have assured the public of a seamless national examinations exercises free of the malpractices of the past that have cast aspersions on the integrity of the process.

The national exams will be done as the country transitions to the controversial Competency-Based Curriculum (CBC) that will be a fundamental departure from the exam-oriented 8-4-4 system.
