Opposition leader Raila Odinga on Saturday said Kenyans are suffering due to tough economic times in the country.
In a statement shared on his Twitter handle, Odinga noted that Kenya should emulate prosperous countries, which took steps in creating an economic model which liberated them from economic woes.
He opined that consistent implementation of an economic model helped such countries boost their economy, adding that the Building Bridges Initiative (BBI), had proposals meant to improve Kenya's economy over time.
"Kenyans are feeling the pinch of an economy that is not meeting their expectations. The truth is that prosperous nations share one thing in common: they came up with an economic model that got implemented consistently over a sustained period of time: This is what BBI is pursuing," Odinga's statement read in part.
He urged Kenyans to rally behind the BBI initiative, adding that it has proposals to help better their livelihoods.
A number of leaders have, however, alleged that the BBI report is meant to benefit a few individuals with top positions in government.
Deputy President William Ruto claimed that the ODM party was using BBI report for its political line-up in the 2022 elections.
"We accept that BBI/handshake has been hijacked to craft ODM's 2022 political line up. Unity/inclusivity pretence and associated squander of public resources should stop.Unity?the opposition (NASA) is already dismembered/dead;now dividing Jubilee. Big Four roll out only way to go," Ruto opined.
