Homa Bay Woman Representative Gladys Wanga has hit out at Kipkelion West MP Hillary Kosgei after he launched an attack on women political leaders under an alliance dubbed 'Team Embrace Kenya'.
The women have been crisscrossing the country preaching peace and reconciliation and at the same time urging Kenyans to support the handshake between President Uhuru Kenyatta and former Prime Minister Raila Odinga.
However, terming them as 'Raila daughters', Kosgei has mocked the activities of the group, and accused them of starting early campaigns, which is against President Kenyatta's directive.
"Thanks team Embrace for launching a key enabler of the big 4, #Railadaughters, in line with the President's warning on early 2022 campaigns. Kazi kwanza (work first)," Kosgei, a close ally of Deputy President William Ruto, tweeted on Saturday.
In a quick rejoinder, Wanga criticised the Jubilee MP's remarks and accused him of spreading propaganda with the intent to paint 'Team Embrace Kenya' in a bad picture.
She denied the group was engaging in early campaigns, noting their core mandate was to unite Kenyans and support President Kenyatta's Big Four agenda.
"Spreading cheap "prokopanda" by sharing 2017 campaign branding won't fly. As Embrace, we remain undeterred in our support for one united Kenya; shunning premature campaigns and focusing on Big 4. Soon we bring our peace message to Kipkelion," Wanga stated.
During a rally in Kisumu on Friday, the women leaders visited the family of Baby Samantha Pendo, who was killed by police at the height of 2017 election protests, where they called for justice and asked the government to prosecute the police officer responsible for Baby Pendo's death.
“The reparation process must begin and so we’re keen on putting in place mechanisms to enable us move forward with the compensation of victims of past injustices,” said Wanga, who was accompanied by more than 30 women legislators.
