Renowned journalist Tony Gachoka has opined that Deputy President William Ruto is surrounded by corrupt allies.
In a tweet on Friday, the KTN's Point Blank Show host wondered why almost all politicians close to the DP have been dragged to the theft of public resources.
This is after Kenyans on Twitter (KOT) called for the arrest of National Assembly Majority Leader Aden Duale after he was linked to a company in Sh2.6 billion tender scandal.
Gachoka also observed Kiambu Governor Ferdinand Waititu, another close ally of Ruto, was also battling corruption allegations after the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) Noordin Haji approved his prosecution alongside his wife and daughter.
"Why is almost every senior politician linked to DP William Ruto corrupt ... #ArrestDuale the latest one ... Waititu to be charged soon ... etc.. its not a witch hunt but it’s still haunting," he tweeted.
Both Waititu and Duale have denied the graft allegations leveled against them and accused their political detractors of being behind their woes.
"I don't see any fault in employing my wife and daughter in my companies. I am ready to defend myself like a man in court against graft charges If found guilty," the Kiambu Governor said over claims his family-linked firm received millions in kickbacks after irregularly awarding road tenders worth Sh588 million.
On his part, Duale has denied owning Concordia Building and Civil Engineering Company, which has been awarded tenders worth Sh2.6 billion in the last ten years, and threatened to sue Daily Nation for defamation after publishing a story linking him to the controversial firm.
"Following the highly damaging yet patently false headline published against me on the Daily Nation, I have instructed my lawyers to serve them with a demand letter for the withdrawal of the article and for the newspaper to publish a similarly prominent apology to me within 7 days," the Garissa Township MP said on Thursday.
