Deputy President William Ruto did not attend the traditional wedding of Kirinyaga Governor Anne Waiguru and City lawyer Kamotho Waiganjo which was held on Saturday.
Ruto's absence has attracted mixed reactions given the fact that the wedding was attending by President Uhuru Kenyatta and former Prime Minister Raila Odinga among other prominent politicians.
Whereas the wedding was happening at Gichugu Constituency in Kirinyaga county, the DP was in Tharaka Nithi on other duties.
He commissioned the Tharaka Nithi training college and also presided over the opening of a secondary school.
“During the opening of Kamaguna Secondary School, Gatunga, Tharaka, Tharaka Nithi County,” Ruto tweeted on Saturday.
He later on attended a thanksgiving ceremony of Tharaka Member of Parliament George Gitonga.
Ruto’s absence at Waiguru’s wedding ceremony which was attended by high ranking government officials has left many wondering if there is bad blood between the two.
Some of the government officials who attended the wedding include; Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka, Homa Bay Woman Rep Gladys Wanga and former Meru Woman Rep Florence Kajuju, Sports CS Amina Mohamed, Transport CS James Macharia, Interior PS Karanja Kibicho and Senate Minority Leader and Senator of Siaya County James Orengo.
