The two sides have been battling each other lately, with the senate joining hands with governors in pushing for more money, pushes that have irked the national assembly.

But speaking on Tuesday, Weda noted that as much as there is need for more money to be give to the devolved units, its quote clear that the money is not there.

He said that while most of the money is finding its way back to debtors whom Kenya owes trillions in loans, others are being wasted in graft, which he likened to a whole industry.

"After paying loans that we have used in out infrastructures and funding the corruption industry there is very little left," he said on KBC English's The Big Conversation, Tuesday morning.

The former SONY Sugar board chair Senators over their vocal nature in the matter, observing that they are using the matter for popularity and political mileage.

He predicted that the push for more money will not get anywhere as there is no money to be given, which makes the senate a populist house out for popularity.

"Senate is doing it in a populist way; to be seen that they re fighting for the counties to be given more money. Its as unrealistic push because there is no money," he added.
