Teachers Service Commission’s decision to deregister Knut Secretary-General Wilson Sossion will not affect his performance at the union, The Central Organisation of Trade Unions (COTU) has said.
Cotu boss Francis Atwoli has said that Sossion will with no doubt continue to serve teachers’ interest even after his name was removed from the TSC register.
Atwoli said that he has no problem with Sossion serving as Knut boss and as a nominated Member of Parliament. The new development comes after the Labour Court on Friday gave the KNUT a go-ahead to kick out Sossion after deregistration.
“As Cotu, we wish to acknowledge that Sossion holds a valid and legitimate position in the leadership of Knut. Equally, the ruling does not in any way affect the position of secretary-general as he is an elected leader nominated and voted in by members of Knut,” said Atwoli, he said, as quoted by Daily Nation.
Atwoli reminded the union that there is no need to intimate Sossion while he is serving the people at different capacities.
On his part, Sossion said that his removal from the TSC register will not affect his position as well as future endeavors.
The removal of Sossion from TSC register has continued to elicit mixed reactions from different quarters.
