Ruto was among hundreds of mourners who attended Kabage’s burial in Rongai, Nakuru County. He told the mourners that he warned Kabage not to expect an easy ride in politics.

“When he came to see me, he told me he wanted to run for Senator of Nakuru and he wanted me to tell him a few things,” said the DP.

The DP admitted that he was not very successful in helping Karanja Kabage in politics.

“Although I told him that politics has ups and downs. Threats are many, respect is little and in the middle brokers are very many,” he said amid laughter from the mourners.

President Uhuru Kenyatta, ODM leader Raila Odinga and ANC Party leader Musalia Mudavadi are among leaders who attended the burial. The lawyer-cum-business man died on Friday last week, shortly after he was involved in an accident.

A police statement said that he was driving a black Land Cruiser VX along the Southern bypass from Ole Sereni towards Kikuyu before the vehicle veered off to the wrong side of the road, slowed down, and appeared to be making a U-turn before slightly hitting the pavement.

He died of cardiac arrest according to an autopsy report.
