In an interview on Sunday, Waiganjo lauded the county allocation elevation clause which proposes an increment of the money sent to counties to 35 per cent, terming it a great suggestion.

He noted that this forms one of the reasons why Kenyans should consider backing the document, as it brings more money to them through their devolved units.

"The BBI has required the raising allocation to counties to 35 per cent of equitable shareable income. This is one reason I think we should support the BBI report," he said during an interview on K24's Punchline show.

At the same time, he noted that the process of amending the Constitution is a long one, adding that a lot of work still lies ahead for the report before it is finally adopted.

On the heating debate on whether or not the report should be taken to a committee of experts and then through a referendum, he noted that he would rather it goes through Parliament.

"There is still more work to do. That work will need to be done at a technical level. I am hesitant to go the referendum route before an election," he added.
