Speaking in an exclusive interview with Citizen Television, the outspoken governing Jubilee legislator said that allies of the country's second in command were in the process of bouncing ideas off each other on how to fund the meetings.

"We have to plan how we are going to do our things now that we have said that we will not use public funds, we have to find a way of organising the meetings without using public funds, we will see whether we shall make contributions from our own pockets. (Lazima tujipange jinsi ambavyo tutafanya ikiwa tayari tumejitangaza hatutaki kutuamia peas ya umma ni njia gani sasa tutaweza kufanya hizi mikutano bila kutumia mali ya umma, mchango ganitutatoa sisi wenyewe), " the Elgeyo Marakwet senator said. The deputy president and his allies have railed against the use of public funds in the organisation of the BBI meetings across the country.

“What are all these campaigns for? Who do they want to persuade? Is it a way of misusing government resources?” the deputy president said a few weeks ago as quoted by the People Daily.

3 meetings on the BBI have so far been held; in Kisii, Kakamega, and Mombasa.

The next meeting will be held in Kitui County.
