The National Intelligence Service (NIS) should start investigating Orange Democratic Movement party leader Raila Odinga over plans to cause chaos in 2022, Kimilili MP Didmus Barasa has said.
With over 34 months to the next polls, battle lines have been drawn, in which Mr Odinga is facing a persistent onslaught from Deputy President William Ruto.
The two protagonists are not leaving anything to chance. They are likely to face off in the battle to amend the law before 2022 polls.
Barasa now believes Odinga should be subjected to NIS surveillance over possible plans to cause chaos in 2022.
"They now have plans to turn ODM to a terror group of intimidating Kenyans in 2022. I want to ask NIS Director to declare Raila Odinga a person of interest and investigate him if he plans to cause chaos because DP William Ruto shall win," said Barasa in a video shared by Daily Nation on Twitter.
"When they are doing their meetings, they keep on discussing Didmus Barasa. The DP is now above that league. I am asking Raila that if he plans to instigate chaos, he should be ready for me," he added.
The National Intelligence Service is under Major General (Rtd) Philip Kameru and is responsible for gathering intelligence about the state of security.
Barasa, a Jubilee MP who supports Ruto, is also a retired army officer. He left military at the rank of a Captain.
ODM has been distancing itself from an alleged plot to cause chaos, often accusing DP William Ruto of thriving in divisions for political gains.
"Ruto thrives in chaos and division. He does not know how to lead a united and peaceful nation. He thrives on inventing enemies and proceeding to mobilize paid sycophants to fight those enemies," ODM dismissed Ruto in a recent statement quoted by Daily Nation.
