President Uhuru Kenyatta and ODM leader Raila Odinga have been urged to join their forces and see to it that Deputy President William Ruto does bit participate in the 2022 general elections.
Already, the DP is considered a frontrunner in the race, a candidature his allies, under the Tangatanga tag, have been endorsing and drumming up support for ahead of time.
But former Dagoretti South Member of Parliament Dennis Waweru now wants them to go a step further, after their 2018 truce, and block the Tangatanga 2022 dream.
Waweru, who has openly declared his support for the truce, says that the handshake should also manifest itself in Nairobi politics.
"We now want Uhuru and Raila to lock them out of 2022 as we did in Kibra. Let the newfound unity continue to 2022 and let us also use it to clean Nairobi,” he said.
Political analyst Javas Bigambo says that by the look of things, the handshake was brought to serve the very similar purpose; slimming Ruto's winning chances in the much-awaited race.
But he notes that it has also brought with it some negative outcomes, among them the collapse of the opposition, which before the handshake, Raila was seen to lead.
“One of them has been the death of the Opposition," he said.
The remarks come at a time when the DP seems completely unwanted around the president, as was clearly manifested during the Building Bridges Initiative (BBI) report launch last month.
Uhuru also appears to have abandoned him, which has treated him to attacks and altercations with some Cabinet Secretaries, as the president silently watches.
