City lawyer and High Court advocate Ambrose Weda has rubbished claims that Kandara MP Alice Wahome's recent remarks are as a result of deployment by a more senior politician.

The MP has been very vocal lately, especially against President Uhuru Kenyatta, with her critics branding her a political mouthpiece working for Deputy President William Ruto.

However, Weda on Wednesday dismissed the remarks, saying that the MP is most likely just  speaking her mind, adding that he has known her for long enough to be sure about that.

Weda also pointed out that Wahome's level and experience eliminates her for the list of politicians who can be bought, likening her to former Gichugu MP Martha Karua.

"Its not proper to say that she is dancing to any person's tune. She is in the level of people like Martha Karua," he said in an interview on KBC English Service on Wednesday.

He said that having known Wahome for a very long time, he can declare that she is not among politicians who can be bought over to act as goons for hire.

But at the same time, Weda opined that Wahome could be using her sudden vibrance to popularize herself, hoping to emerge among the senior Mt Kenya politicians after the 2022 polls.

According to him, Wahome could be attempting to dethrone Kirinyaga governor Anne Waiguru, who currently seems like the most powerful female leader in Central Kenya politics.

"As people jostle for Waiguru, she wants to get recognition because she thinks she has a cleaner record," he added.

In her latest attacks on Uhuru, who doubles up as the Mt Kenya kingpin, Wahome accused Uhuru of plotting to prolong his stay in power, after allegedly running down the economy.
