Nakuru Senator Susan Kihika has expressed her disappointment with the county government of Nakuru after the returning Sh.3.9 billion to the National Treasury.
The senator took to her social media page to express her anger after learning about the new development.
She noted that she has been on the forefront in pushing for the release of funds to the county government, adding that it is absurd to note that her county has returned unspent money.
She argued that the unused money would have been used to initiate other projects in the county instead of being returned.
“At Kshs. 3.9 billion, Nakuru County LEADS in the amounts of unspent funds that were returned to the treasury in the last financial year. When I think of how much that money would have gone to improve service delivery, it would be an understatement to say am disappointed,” she said.
The senator added that the county has endless problems yet the governor cannot utilise what he receives from the government. She said that roads, bridges and hospitals need to be constructed but the county government has opted to return funds to the Treasury.
“The Kshs. 3.9b would have been a cure to the death traps that our drainages in Nakuru and Naivasha towns have become. Projects costing a mere Kshs. 5 million like the Kanorero Bridge in Elementaita ward continue lying unfinished and shoddily done. Tutaambia watu nini surely?” she added.
