Mr Kedenge died last week after months of struggling with a disease at Nairobi Hospital which was coupled with old age predicaments.

At Charter Hall on Tuesday, Mr Odinga presented a personal donation of Sh1 million from Uhuru and a similar amount from his own pocket.

"During the fundraiser, @RailaOdinga contributed Ksh. 1 million and also brought President Uhuru Kenyatta’s contribution of a similar amount," tweeted ODM party.

Other contributors include Mike Sonko (Sh1 million), Musalia Mudavadi (Sh150,000), Francis Atwoli (Sh200,000). Esther Passaris, Timothy Wanyonyi, Edwin Sifuna and George Aladwa all gave Sh50,000 each.

Mr Odinga said that President Uhuru Kenyatta had agreed to handover a house at South B in Nairobi which Kedenge has been claiming for years.

“It was Joe’s wish that the house in Mariakani estate be handed over to him and that wish was granted by the President,” he added

He termed Kadenge as a legend whose history will remain in the minds of Kenyans for many years due to his impeccable contributions to the game.

“Joe was a legend. And that is why I proposed to President Kenyatta on the possibility of renaming City Stadium in his honour” said Raila. “We both have spoken with Sonko and has agreed to fast track the process," he said.
