The remains of the victims of the ill-fated Ethiopian Airlines plane crash will start arriving in the country on Monday.

 Daily Nation reports that the remains will be laid to rest on Thursday. 

The arrival of the remains ends the long wait for the families of the passengers who had boarded the Nairobi-bound Ethiopian Airlines flight ET-302 before it crashed in Bishoftu moments after departing from Bole International Airport in Addis Ababa. 

The families were compelled to wait for months to know the whereabouts of their kin after the accident claimed that lives of all passengers who were on board.

The family of John Quindos Karanja, who lost the entire family in the accident, said that he is saddened but reprieved after the revelation. 

He also said that he is grateful to the government and the management of the airline for the support they have accorded them since the tragic incident.

“We thank all Kenyans for the overwhelming emotional, spiritual and financial support towards our family. 

"On Monday we shall be ferrying the remains of our loved ones after they were successfully identified. We plan to have the burial on Thursday, October 17,” said Mr Karanja, as quoted by Daily Nation.

The airline and other stakeholders oversee the conducting of DNA tests on the bodies of the victims before the process of returning the remains home was started. 

The families have also been lamenting over delayed compensation.
