Speaking on Wednesday on a prime time television show aired on KTN, the former legislator distinguished the two on the basis of how they socialise.

According to Jirongo, while DP Ruto has mastered the art of socialising with people he does not do so in a genuine way.

" If I compare William Ruto and Gideon Moi, they are far apart. Ruto has learnt to socialize, but he doesn't socialize genuinely, " Cyrus Jirongo said.

The deputy president and the Baringo senator are vying for the control of the vote-rich Rift Valley region and could potentially go toe in a presidential contest in 2022.

Ruto allies have in the past attacked Gideon Moi on account of his interest in the presidency.

They have accused the senator of making it difficult for the deputy president to have a meeting with former president Daniel Arap Moi.

The Kenya African National Union (KANU), which Gideon Moi leads, has been clear that it will not rally behind Ruto's presidential bid in the upcoming presidential election in 2022.
