A woman behind a suspected drug trafficking syndicate in Mombasa is yet to be arrested.
Police officers have now intensified their search for the woman who is reportedly behind the 2.9 kilograms of cocaine netted from Brazil worth Sh11 million.
The woman, who has since been identified as Nassim Athman Mohammed, is on the run after the detectives announced that they are searching for her following the nabbing of the cocaine.
Police are holding a German passport which they believe the suspect has been using to conduct the illegal business across the continent.
The suspect has been linked to the trafficking of cocaine from Brazil to Mombasa.
The cocaine was found stashed in a black suitcase. The suspects allegedly passed the cocaine through Sudan before going to Uganda and then Mombasa.
Preliminary reports indicate that the suspect had picked the cocaine from Sao Paulo, Brazil.
An intelligence report shows that the suspect has been targeting locals as well as tourists in the sale of the drugs.
“The network targets both locals and tourists. It is suspected that Mr Suleiman works closely with a known village elder in Mtwapa who supervises his affairs and pretends to offer protection,” reads an intelligence report in part.
