Malindi MP Aisha Jumwa has dismissed claims that he attended ODM Parliamentary Group meeting effectively ending her ties with DP William Ruto.
On Tuesday, photos of Ms Jumwa, an Orange Democratic Movement party rebel, made rounds on social media, with some ODM members confirming that she had restored her allegiance to the party.
The rebel MP was pictured with ODM leader Raila Odinga and Kibra by-election ODM candidate Imran Okoth, causing anxiety among DP William Ruto supporters.
ODM Communication Director Philip Etale announced that Ms Jumwa had ditched Dr Ruto's Tanga Tanga wing which cost her expulsion from ODM.
"Malindi MP Aisha Jumwa today officially ditched Team Tangatanga and vowed to vigorously campaign for Bernard Okoth Imran for the Kibra Parliamentary Seat. She attended the party Parliamentary Group meeting," he wrote.
Ms Jumwa has been at loggerheads with the Orange party and had her expulsion lifted by the court. ODM had vowed to evict her using other means.
But shortly after the claims, Jumwa took to social media to clarify the circumstances surrounding her meeting with Mr Odinga at Parliament building.
According to her, Mr Odinga made a surprise visit to her Parliamentary Service Commission office adding that she was not party to an earlier meeting chaired by him.
"Rt. Hon Raila makes a surprise visit to my Parliamentary Service Commission's Office this afternoon. This was after he attended the ODM Parliamentary Group meeting at County Hall that I did not attend!" she said.
For months now, the rebel ODM legislator has been a key campaigner of DP William Ruto across the country, at times chairing Inua Mama movement that supports Ruto.
She was first elected as Kilifi Woman Representative in 2013 on the ODM ticket before going for Malindi constituency seat in 2017 winning emphatically.
Mrs Jumwa still risks eviction from the lucrative PSC. It's still now clear what she discussed with her party leader Mr Odinga, who is her political mentor.
