NARC-Kenya party leader Martha Karua has renewed attack on her arch nemesis Kirinyaga Governor Anne Waiguru saying she is not suitable for Mount Kenya political kingship.
The former Justice Minister said Waiguru has failed terribly as county boss and therefore could not be trusted with the leadership of the vote-rich region.
Speaking during Punchline Show on K24 TV, Karua was asked what was her take on calls to have Waiguru take over from President Uhuru Kenyatta as Mt Kenya political kingpin in which she replied:
"I would rather you talk about people like Peter Kenneth. Kirinyaga is a disorganized county," she said.
Both Karua and Kenneth vied against Uhuru in 2013 polls but in the last elections they rallied behind his reelection bid.
In 2017, the Narc-Kenya boss lost to Waiguru while Kenneth lost to Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko in their gubernatorial bids.
Asked about her next political move in the 2022 general election, Karua hinted at going for the presidency, saying she will announce her bid at own appointed time.
"I have been in the presidential race before. There is no magic in being early. I am not under pressure to declare early," she said.
The former Gichugu MP said she was still popular on the ground and, therefore, she was not looking to be endorsed by political bigwigs in her search for power.
"At the end of the day, what everyone is looking for is grassroots support," Karua added.
