Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko has said that he relates well with opposition leader Raila Odinga.
In an interview on Milele FM early Wednesday, the ruling Jubilee party county boss recalled working with Raila's Orange Democratic Movement some years back, before he joined President Uhuru's side.
He noted that their relationship remains intact despite him crossing the floor, terming the former Prime Minister as one of his political seniors who even deployed him to carry out party responsibilities back in the day.
''Namheshimu sana Raila Odinga kwa maana nimefanya kazi na yeye na chama cha ODM. Tulikuwa na yeye hapo mbeleni kabla sijahama (I have great respect for him as I know him well having worked with him and other leaders allied to his ODM party),'' said Sonko.
He lauded the March 9 reconciliation between Odinga and his party leader President Uhuru Kenyatta, noting that it came when it was needed the most and has since stabilised the nation in many ways.
In Nairobi, he said, the political calm that has prevailed since the two national leaders buried the hatchet has boosted business, resulting to economic growth and smooth business operations.
''Handshake ilikuwa nzuri na imestabilize Kenya nzima sio Nairobi pekee (it was good for the entire nation and not Nairobi alone),'' added the youthful county boss.
