In an interview with NTV on Tuesday, Havi said that the Judiciary is no longer an independent body.

He noted that the executive has continued to frustrate the Judiciary. This is after Chief Justice David Maraga accused the Executive of frustrating Judiciary's work.

"The current state of the Judiciary is very deplorable. The Judiciary is an arm of government but it should not involve itself so much in matters of the Executive," Havi said.

On Monday Maraga alleged there is a plot by the Executive to kick him out of the office saying he is aware of Cabinet Secretaries and Principal Secretaries' plan to send him home before the end of his tenure.

He, however, insisted that he will not bow to pressure.

"I'm told that some CSs are PSs are bragging around that the CJ will or should be removed from the office before the end of this year. Really? Kumbe hii nchi iko na wenyewe (The country has its owners)," Maraga said.

The outburst by the  CJ continues to elicit mixed reactions from different quarters.
