The MCAs lament that there has been a trend to victimise women serving under Governor Lee Kinyanjui's regime.

Speaking on Monday morning led by Nominated MCA Rose Njoroge from Turi,  Molo constituency the leaders said that their male counterparts have been targeting women.

Njoroge who was earlier in 2018 de-whipped from the Sports Committee has condemned the motion of impeaching Eng Kariuki saying that the trend should come to an end or else the county will end up losing a majority of the women at the hands of their male fellows.

“Women leaders in this county have become victims of intimidation from our male counterparts and we will not allow that,” said Njoroge.

Her sentiments were echoed by Zeitun Ibrahim, nominated MCA representing the Muslim community who was also de-whipped from the Justice and Legal Affairs Committee under unclear terms.

Ibrahim noted that ousting Eng Kariuki is a big blow to women given that she is a qualified civil engineer.

“We should be proud of women leadership in this country but when we end up impeaching them, then, we are loosing out,” she stated.

The women MCAs have said that the war on women started with the successful impeachment of Halima Gababa CEC for Youths, Gender, Sports and CultureGababa was thrown out of the office after a successful impeachment motion that accused her of incompetence and poor running of funds in the docket.
