President Uhuru Kenyatta has joined other Kenyans in mourning the death of football legend Joe Kadenge.
In a tweet, President Kenyatta noted that Kadenge's death was a huge loss to the sporting industry.
He further noted that during Kadenge's days as a footballer, he exemplified patriotism.
"It is with profound sadness that I have learnt of the demise of Mzee Joe Kadenge. His death is a loss to the sporting fraternity and our nation.
"Joe exemplified talent, dedication and patriotism. My thoughts and prayers go out to his family at this time," read a statement from State House
Besides being Kenya's football legend, Kadenge also played a major role in managing the Kenya national football team in 2002.
During his peak, Kadenge inspired youths from different parts of the nation to pursue their talents.
His body was transferred to Lee funeral home on Sunday afternoon.
