President Uhuru Kenyatta and ODM leader Raila Odinga are set to share podium at Bomet Green Stadium on Friday, where deputy president William Ruto is also expected.
It will be the first ever event the two will be sharing platform at DP Ruto's stronghold in as many years, with the event likely to evoke political emotions.
The three will be among dignitaries who shall attend the funeral of Bomet Governor Joyce Laboso, who died on Monday after a long battle with cancer.
On Tuesday, Kipsigis elders agreed with the decision to have Laboso's remains interred at her husband's home in Koru, Kisumu County in accordance to Luo traditions.
“The decision to lay to rest the body at her matrimonial home is welcome and commendable. As a community, we do not bury a married woman at her parents’ home. It is a taboo,” said Mr Thomas Cherutany.
A worker in Bomet County, who is part of the funeral organising committee, said that there will be mass at All Saints Cathedral on Thursday in Nairobi before the body is flown to Sotik for overnight stay.
On Friday, the body shall be moved to Bomet Green Stadium for a funeral rally where several leaders among them Uhuru, Raila and Ruto will be present.
Thereafter, Laboso's remains shall be taken to Koru for overnight stay ahead of Saturday's burial. She was married to Edwin Abonyo of Kisumu County.
"The president and other leaders like Raila and Ruto will be present. We are through with planning. We are just waiting for the body from Nairobi," said the official, Wednesday.
