NASA leader Raila Odinga and Interior Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang'i have received rare support over the ongoing probe in the fake gold scam.
ODM Chairman Samuel Omwando while speaking on Sunday at Nyamataro shopping centre in Kisii County said a section of leaders linking Matiang'i and Raila to the fake gold scam are doing it with a hidden agenda.
"Some politicians, the likes of Malindi MP Aisha Jumwa asking Matiang'i to step aside over ongoing fake gold scam should keep off because Raila and Matiang'i should not be dragged into the illegal businesses," he said.
He defended Matiang'i and Raila saying the Director of Public Prosecutions and the DCI should be given time to investigate the scandal.
"DCI and DPP are doing all they can to bring those involved in the fake gold scam to book. Therefore, Raila and Matiang'i should be left out due to their innocence," he added.
According to Omwando, any politician found to be behind the fake gold business once investigations are complete should carry his own cross.
