Ndaragwa MP Jeremiah Kioni has poked holes in President Uhuru Kenyatta's decision to extend the term for the Building Bridges Initiative (BBI) taskforce.
Speaking during an interview with Citizen TV on Tuesday, Kioni said that he does not find it necessary for the extension of the team's term in office. He said that the team had enough time to collect views and give guidelines on the way forward.
"I am not sure that the decision to extend the mandate of the BBI taskforce was a good one. I was hoping by now that we would be talking about implementation," he said.
The lawmaker said that he is fully behind the report, adding that there is a need for the leaders to discuss how it will be implemented.
"BBI is a good initiative that we need to support. However, we should not be seen to be hesitant. My fear is that we have not decided how to implement the report," he said.
Kioni warned leaders of attempting to hijack the report after it was made public. He noted that some leaders with malicious thoughts are likely to disrupt the process of the implementation. The legislator told off leaders claiming that their views were not captured in the report.
"We need to deal with the ‘suspicion’ being brought forth by politicians claiming that some things were not captured in the BBI report," he added.
