Education Cabinet Secretary Prof George Magoha has made an offer to the pupils of the Greenfield Academy in Changamwe, Mombasa.
Speaking to members of the press on Friday after ordering the closure of the private school, the tough-talking CS said that the pupils of the school would be allowed to join a public school, preferably the Umoja Primary School.
He went on to assure that the pupils would be issued with books from the government free of charge and urged the local media to encourage the pupils to take up the offer.
"It has an excess capacity that can absorb all those children so my instructions are very simple that all those children from Greenfields Academy please as media people encourage them to come to this public school," the Education CS said.
Magoha is on a whirlwind tour of the country in a bid to identify schools that have substandard structures and that fall short of the standards of operation.
His tour comes in the wake of the tragic collapse of the Precious Talents Top School building that took the lives of at least 8 pupils and left scores more with serious injuries.
The Education CS has ordered education directors in the 47 counties to close all schools that do not meet the required standards and that have standard structures that could pose a danger to learners.
