Writing on Twitter on Tuesday, Mr Dida urged the president to fire 70% of the members of his government.

He also urged veterans opposition and Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) party leader Raila Odinga to urge Uhuru to swing into action.

Dida warned that taking action would also mean that the president would have to serve without a deputy, an insinuation that the deputy is corrupt.

" For President Uhuru to recover from the shame of massive corruption and failed projects like the Big 4 Agenda, he must fire 70% of his government and halt all big projects! Rt Hon Raila should tell him this. The action will also leave him without a deputy, " the former presidential candidate.

President Uhuru Kenyatta is in his second and his final term and is expected to hand over power to his successor in 2022.

His legacy is threatened by what many see as widespread corruption, a vice that his government has been fighting through the arrests and arraignment in court of high profile individuals accused of graft.
