Members of the Bomet County Assembly have rejected six of the nine County Executive Committee (CeC) members whose names were forwarded by Governor Hillary Barchok for reappointment.
The governor proposed the six names after taking over the top slot from his predecessor and former boss Joyce Laboso who succumbed to cancer late last month.
However, the names were unanimously rejected by 37 of the MCAs on Wednesday, citing highhandedness, laziness, and incompetence during their tenure under Laboso.
They claimed some of the executives presided over implementation of shoddy work leading to loss of tax payer's money, citing appointments of Bernard Ngeno (Sports Youth and Social Services) and Benson Kipsang Sang (Water and Sanitation).
Others who were shown the door are Julius Tuwei (Agriculture, Livestock and Cooperatives), Daisy Chelangat (Land and Urban Planning), Philip Kipngeno Sowek (Roads, Public Works and Transport) and Justus Maina (Administration).
Minority Leader Andrew Maritim took issue with Sowek for allegedly misusing funds meant for two bridges which he said ended up looking like culverts, while Chesoen MCA Kiplangat Barchok led others in celebrating Mr Ngeno's woes.
“It is a shame that the Chepkositonik bridge which the government sunk Sh 8.4 million but built like a culvert in Bomet East Sub County and Kirwa bridge in Sotik constituency with Sh 2.4 million being spent was constructed using bricks under the watch of engineer Sowek," said Maritim.
The three who survived the axe were Joseph Kipruto Sitonik (Medical Services and Public Health), Juliana Yegon (Education and Vocational Training and Andrew Kimutai Sigei (Finance) who were hailed by the MCAs as performers.
