Mathira Member of Parliament Rigathi Gachagua has come out to explain why he canceled an interview with Kameme FM on Wednesday.
Gachagua was scheduled to be hosted by Gatonye Wa Mbugua and comedian Muthee Kiengei Wa Watoria during their breakfast show Arahuka.
In a Facebook post on Tuesday evening, the first-time legislator said he snubbed the show after he found out he was to be co-hosted for a debate with an 'election loser'.
"They informed me I would debate with an elected Member of Parliament from my county. I accepted and was looking forward to the debate. This evening (Tuesday) I have learnt they have invited an election loser to debate with me. I am sorry that was not my idea of a quality debate and hence have cancelled my appearance," he said.
"I regret the inconvenience caused to those who would have wished to listen to me. I would be available when they pair me up with an elected leader," added the Mathira legislator.
Even though Gachagua did not disclose the identity of the politician he was to debate with, it is suspected he was to face off with former Mukurwe-ini MP Kabando Wa Kabando.
In the past few weeks, Kameme FM has been pairing Kabando with leaders allied to the Tanga Tanga group during interviews which have been attracting a huge audience.
Two weeks ago, the former legislator, faced off with Kandara MP Alice Wahome in an arousing debate.
