Having won his second term and with his advanced age, it's not a secret that Nyagarama will not be active in politics after 2022. He will be 77 by then.

And to continue with his dominance, the ODM governor is now preparing his wife to join politics, a move that will promote continuity.

"I can confirm that she is joining the race. We are prepared for her and when that time comes, we shall teach them a lesson," a campaigner to Jerusha Momanyi said.

"It's a done deal and it's her right to contest. She will be in the race so those opposing her should just tell us how they want to block her," said one of the insider.

The move means Nyagarama's daughter, Emily may not after all join politics as earlier thought. She was one of most politically active child of the governor.

Woman Representative Jerusha Momanyi says anybody who is interested in joining politics has a right to do so, adding that she's ready to face anyone.

"It's not a crime to join the race. They are all welcome. We shall face them as they come. It's politics and there is always a winner and a loser," she said.

Mrs Momanyi is so far the leading contestant courtesy of her incumbency and many of those who contested against her in 2017 have since quit the race.
