Detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) based at Pangani arrested two police officer who have been on the run after the 8th Street-Eastleigh robbery.
Acting on a lead from residents, the two in the company of a civilian were arrested on Wednesday night.
In a tweet on Thursday afternoon, the DCI said that the three were nabbed in a Toyota Caldina vehicle of Reg. No. KAY 443N.
''UPDATES|| PC Simon MWANIKI of Kayole P/Station who has been on the run since the Robbery at 8th Street-Eastleigh was last night arrested at Kahawa West alongside PC Kelvin MARANGU of DCI Kasarani & a Civilian; Martin KITHINJI. Acting on Intelligence leads, Pangani Detectives,'' said the DCI.
The three were taken in for interrogations. The police with the help of PC Mwaniki went to his two houses, one in Kayole Junction and the other at Hurlingham for a search.
Various items were found in the two houses. Among items that the police found are; fake currency of Sh29,000 and USD8800, 30 live rounds of ammunition, 15 speed governors, recorded compliance certificates, forged driving licenses, NTSA stamps, PSV certificates and work permits.
Various things belonging to the police were also found in the houses.
The three are in police custody as investigations continue.
