The High Court has ordered for immediate arrest of Treasury Principal Secretary Julius Muia for failing to honour a court summon.
Muia was on December 9, ordered to appear before Justice David Majanja, to give evidence relating to reopening of the Child Welfare Society of Kenya (CWSK) bank accounts.
However, he failed to appear in court, prompting the judge to issue a warrant of arrest against him.
While delivering his ruling, Justice Majanja directed the Inspector General of Police to arrest and present Muia in court.
"Warrant of arrest issued against PS Treasury for failure to attend court. The warrant of arrest to be executed by the Inspector General Kenya Police Service to be availed in court on December 18, 2019,” he said.
In the case, activist Okiya Omtata had moved to court seeking conservatory orders against a plan by the Solicitor General to change signatories of the society's bank accounts.
The court had on December 10, froze the society's bank account at the Kenya Commercial Bank and another one at the Equity Back, Kilimani Supreme branch.
