A middle-aged man was on Sunday arrested in Eldoret for allegedly impersonating a lady and conning Kuresoi South MP Tonui Joseph Kipkosgei Sh30,000.
The man identified as Enock Bett while popularly DJ Spinna said to be from Chepnyalilo in the same constituency is alleged to have impersonated his friend Faith Chebet often referred to as Fay Sheshe.
DJ Spinna is claimed to have illegally obtained Faith Sheshe's Identity details and used them to register a Safaricom Simcard which he has been using to swindle unsuspecting friends in her circle, among them the MP.
According to a report by Faith, the suspect is said to have asked for her details in August 2019 claiming he was an IEBC agent.
"I have learnt that Spina has been misusing my name, he has been in boxing and seducing people, asking for money, making it worst he has been asking money from our MP Tonui through my name and he send him almost 30k and above, forgive me you people, I don't normally operate inboxes," Sheshe revealed.
Confirming the incident the area chief David Koros said that they almost arrested Faith Chebet but did not find her at home.
"We couldn't find Faith at home and that wasn't adding up since the crime was done within Nakuru County. With further investigations we found out that it was an impostor, " he said.
He further urged residents to be careful not to share their details with friends or anyone as that may land them in trouble.
