Speaking during an interview on Citizen TV on Monday, Kabogo said it is unfortunate that no Kenyan leaders step aside even when asked to do so because of corruption.

He noted that the war against graft is as good as dead if the officers remain in office.

“Nobody resigns in this country. How can you face charges of stealing from the county and yet you sit in the county? How do you preside over the executive authority of a county and yet you are a suspect in a court of law?’ he said.

Senator Ledama Olekina, who spoke during the same interview, said he fully supports the war against corruption.

He, however, asked the DPP to come up with the right measures to curb the vice at the end of the day.

“I support the DPP in the war against graft but I think we have to be fair. The treatment of a state officer vs. a public officer is very different.  We need to come up with legislations that stipulates what one needs to do to step aside," he said.
