Western Stima came from behind to beat Mathare United 2-1 in a Kenya Premier League (KPL) match played at the Moi Stadium in Kisumu, on Wednesday afternoon.
Mathare United got a goal early in the first half, before Stima scored the equalizer during the added time of the first half.
Stima’s winning goal was scored on the 73rd minute.
The win against Mathare was the 8th for Stima this season.
Salim Babu’s side next face Ulinzi Stars on January 1.
Elsewhere, Kisumu All Stars interim Coach Arthur Opiyo failed to deliver on the first account, as his side lost 2-0 to Tusker FC in Nairobi.
The little known German-based tactician was appointed on Monday on a short stint of one month to replace Henry Omino, who ‘was asked to step aside’ due to poor results before a substantive coach is appointed.
Opiyo’s first match in charge saw Tusker FC under Coach Robert Matano score two goals in the first and second half respectively, to walk away with all the three points at the Ruaraka grounds in Nairobi.
The defeat against the Brewers is the 12th for the Kisumu County Government-sponsored side after 16 rounds of matches this season.
All Stars next assignment is against Posta Rangers in Kisumu on January 12.
