Speaking on Saturday during the official launch of the project at Kabazi Centre, area MCA Dr Peter Mbae said the program has been specially crafted and negotiated to empower local communities.

Mbae said the project will go a long way in addressing environmental conservation.

Under the program, households in Kabazi ward will receive 6kg gas cylinders complete with burners and grills at a subsidized price of Sh2,900 from the partner gas firm, PROGAS following negotiation by the area MCA.

Already, 500 households across Kabazi ward have benefited from the project.

According to Dr Mbae, the project will be extended to other areas including Subukia.

“This is in line with my agenda of transforming the lives of the electorates. We are also looking at environment conservation," he said.

Some of the project beneficiaries lauded the MCA for crafting and leading the implementation of the initiative.

“We are very grateful as this gas will now transform our livelihood," one of the beneficiaries said.
