In a series of tweets on Saturday, Dr Mutua hit out at the players in the film industry for having what he called a sense of entitlement.

"Film guys drop your false sense of entitlement and decide if you want to be in this industry or not. If you really want to do your work in peace, please follow the law just like all other Kenyans!" one of the tweets read.

He went on to say that just like other industries, the film sector is also governed by a set of laws that have to be followed.

"I would like the industry players to know that film is business and every business is governed by laws and regulations. Even the guy running a kiosk on the roadside has the requisite licences. Ditto the carpenter, the mechanic or the jua kali artisans," another of his tweets read.

The tweets come amid a tug of war between the KFCB supremo and film industry players who contend that he is restricting creative expression.

In his tenure, he has banned scores of songs that he deems to have violated the laws of the land.
