Former presidential candidate Martha Karua has expressed her satisfaction with the appointment of Professor Asenath Sigot the acting Vice-Chancellor (VC) of Masinde Muliro University of Science and Technology (MMUST).

Karua has said it was 'wonderful' appointment.

Education Cabinet Secretary George Magoha on Tuesday named Professor Asenath Sigot to be the acting VC for MMUST.

Confirming the appointment, Prof Magoha, said the university's council exuded confidence in Sigot, as a suitable replacement for the outgoing VC Professor Joseph Bosireto.

However, Magoha said she will Prof Sigot will take charge of the institution as they wait to name a permanent VC

The new acting VC Prof Sigot has said she received the appointment news with shock but promised to embrace the role

“I was in Nairobi for a workshop when I received the news. It was a surprise to me. I am ready for the new role and pray to the Almighty God to guide my footsteps,” she said.

In a tweet, the NARC Kenya party leader said the appointment was wonderful.

"Wonderful, congratulations are in order!," tweeted Karua.

Still on appointments, earlier on Tuesday, Karua had expressed her disappoint with Safaricom over the appointment of Michael Joseph as Interim CEO after the death of Bob Collymore.

Karua had termed the re-appointment of Michael Joseph as "not good at all" for what she alleged to be the company's lack of confidence in its senior staff.
