President Uhuru Kenyatta on Monday hosted visiting Lesotho PM Thomas Thabane at State House with Deputy President William Ruto also showing up.
Dr Thabane is in the country for a state visit and as protocols dictate, a state banquet was hosted for his honour by State House.
Uhuru was accompanied by First Lady Margaret Kenyatta and Foreign Affairs Chief Administrative Secretary Ababu Namwamba along with DP Ruto.
"President Uhuru Kenyatta and First Lady Margaret Kenyatta last evening hosted a State Banquet in honour of visiting Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Lesotho, Right Hon. Dr Motsoahae Thomas Thabane," State House said.
Speaking during the State Banquet, President Kenyatta appreciated the Kingdom of Lesotho’s steadfast support and solidarity with Kenya in various continental and international fora.
Uhuru also lauded Lesotho for commitment towards supporting Kenya's quest for United Nations Security Council non-permanent seat ahead of 2020 polls.
Ruto's presence at State House comes amid heated political temperatures with a section of leaders from Mt Kenya accusing him of undermining the president.
On Sunday, both leaders were forced to snub events at Murang'a under unclear circumstances. Uhuru was set for Kenol while Ruto was to visit Kandara.
The DP is said to have cancelled the event after it emerged that it clashed with the President's itinerary at the Mt Kenya region.
