ODM leader Raila Odinga has given firm instructions to party officials to ensure all resources are put at disposal to ensure a large turnout and emphatic victory for Imran Okoth.

The seat was left vacant following the death of Ken Okoth, a second term ODM legislator who is credited for transforming the region since 2013.

Already, ODM Director of Campaigns Junet Mohamed has held a strategy meeting, Friday, in which various issues were canvassed ahead of official campaigns.

"Director of Campaigns @JunetMohamed together with Party MPs from Nairobi County today held consultations with the party candidate for the Kibra seat in the Nov. 7 by-election Bernard Otieno Okoth Imran at his (Junet’s) Parliament office. They laid the strategy for the campaign," a tweet from the party read.

"Hosted incoming Kibra MP Hon. @ImranOkoth together with my colleagues Hon. T.J Kajwang’ (Ruaraka) and Hon. George Aladwa (Makadara). Kibra ni ODM. Karibu Bunge," added Mr Mohamed.

In the strategy, an insider who spoke in confidence said, all ODM legislators from Nairobi and Kibra MCAs elected on the party will be accompanying Mr Imran in all his gatherings.

Makadara MP George Aladwa, a former Mayor in Nairobi who also doubles as the party chairman in the city, has been entrusted with all campaigns in the constituency.

"We have a scheme where we shall have leaders accompanying Imran in his campaigns. The team will be under Aladwa. He will supervise all MPs and Kibra MCAs," he said.

Unlike in the past, the party will now emphasize of door to door campaigns. This is a significant drift from the previous open campaigns like ones witnessed in Ugenya and Embakasi South.

"Jakom has asked lead campaigners to desist from early open rallies. Also, the campaign will be issue based. We will not engage in fist fights with opponents."

Towards the end, the party will start convening rallies at strategic places where only issues shall be discussed. Mr Odinga will be making technical appearances towards the end.

MPs who will join Aladwa include Esther Passaris, Babu Owino, Antony Oluoch, Tim Wanyonyi, TJ Kajwang and Dagoretti North's Simba Arati.
