Former Kakamega Senator Boni Khalwale has faulted Kwale counterpart Zuleika Hassan after she was kicked out of Parliament for carrying her child.
In a tweet, the former senator, who has vowed to support Deputy President William Ruto, said that Zuleika was disrespectful when she walked into the parliamentary building with her child.
Khalwale said that the lawmaker should have respected the standing orders of the house for the sake of peace. He said that parliament will be chaotic if leaders continue with such behavior.
“Hon Zuleka Hassan, u goofed big time! Should a CS breastfeed in cabinet whilst the President is presiding, or a bank manager when the CEO is chairing a meeting? There is no demeaning, whatsoever, in a quiet withdrawal. Learn to respect the Standing Orders of @KENYAPARLIAMENT,” he tweeted.
Luanda legislator Christopher Omulele, who was serving as the Speaker at the time of the incident, asked the women representative to leave the chambers. He said that the women representative has a right to breastfeed the kid but she choose the wrong place to do so. “
As much as she has a right to take care of her child, this not the right place, I therefore direct that you immediately withdraw from the chambers,” ordered Omulele as quoted by Nation.
