Mutua made the appeal in Tala on Friday after launching 400 garbage bins, 6 skip loaders, 2 compacting trucks and a street light truck.

The county boss said that the responsibility of ensuring that the county was clean started with the individual.

"I have in Tala, this morning, also launched 400 new large garbage bins, six new skip loaders, two modern compacting trucks and a street light truck. I've urged the people of Machakos County not to throw garbage on the ground. Cleanliness and order starts with an individual, " Mutua tweeted.

The governor has been involved in a number of clean-up exercises in the county and an awareness campaign aimed at sensitising the people of Machakos on the importance of taking care of their environment.

He also took time to drum up support for his presidential ambitions in 2022.

"That is why I reiterate that as a young, dynamic leader, I will, by the grace of God and will of the people of Kenya, be the next President of the Republic of Kenya," Mutua who is in his last term as governor of Machakos County noted.
