Kisumu Governor Anyang Nyongo has joined the list of other notable politicians across the nation in mourning Safaricom Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Bob Collymore.
Bob succumbed to cancer which be has battled for years on Monday morning and is set to be laid to rest in a private function on Tuesday.
The governor hailed the deceased as a great man whose efforts towards bettering the corporate world are openly visible.
He added that Collymore was a visionary leader who will be remembered for his benignity.
"I join the @SafaricomPLC family and the nation at large in condoling with the family and friends of @bobcollymore. Bob will be remembered for his benignity and great contribution in the corporate world.The nation mourn's the loss of such a visionary leader. Fare thee well Bob," he wrote on Twitter, Monday.
Other leaders who have mourned the deceased include President Uhuru Kenyatta, Deputy President William Ruto, Governors Hassan Joho (Mombasa) and Amason Kingi (Kilifi).
Others include Interior Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiangi who lauded him as a visionary steward lauding him for his positive impact in the giant mobile service provider.
Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) leader Raila Odinga has also tendered his condolences to the family and friends of the deceased.
"My condolences go out to the friends and family of Mr Bob Collymore as well as the entire Safaricom fraternity.Bob served our country with dedication and sustained us as a communication hub in Africa. May his soul rest in eternal peace," wrote the former Premier.
