The grandpa, Evanson Kihumba, has however been given an option of paying Sh1.2 million fine to escape jail term after the court ruling, Citizen Digital reports.

Kihumba was found guilty of six counts when he appeared in court on Thursday.

The man claimed he had purchased a piece of land from the late  Paul Kamara on December 18, 1968, and had written an agreement of purchase at the Embu district’s land office.

It later emerged that the land, which has been valued at Sh12 million belonged to one Nyaga Kombuthi. The piece of land has been registered under No Gaturi/Weru/377.

The man was found guilty of forging the documents to show possession of the land and claimed that he acquired the same from Kamara.

He was also found guilty of taking an oath on December 18, 2015, that he had no title deed after it got burned, adding that he was looking for a way to replace the same before he was taken to court.

He was also found guilty of colluding with other parties to attempt to defraud the real owner of the land.
